Calling all Transitioners!
Transition Network International Conference 2015
September 18th-20th, Seale-Hayne, Devon, UK
Dear Transitioner,
As you may be aware, Transition Network are planning our next major Conference in the UK this year. We’re looking to create a truly international event, inviting worldwide attendance from the movement and creating a melting pot of inspiration, creativity and connection. Experience suggests that those that attend find the event rejuvenating, affirming and that it deepens their awareness and connection to Transition. We all look forward to the Conferences with excitement and this one is going to be very, very special.
We want to make sure that everyone active and involved in the Transition Movement is aware of the Conference happening and have the chance to participate either by coming along to the event itself or participating in the global webcast we have planned as part of it.
There are two options for participation:
Transition International Conference: Conference details, including location, transport, ticketing and accommodation options, are available at the conference website:
Global Webcast: The global webcast will be an interactive event held during the conference aimed at deepening connections with Transitioners around the world. It will be an opportunity for Transitioners worldwide to engage with Transition Network, Hubs and others in the Movement. We’re still in the early stages of planning this and more details will follow.
So how can you help?
We are hoping that you can help spread the word locally to your group about the planned events. Ideally, we’d love it if you could:

  • Send an email/circular around with brief details of the Conference, particularly the web link above, and perhaps even include it in a Group newsletter.
  • Post details to your website (if you have one) and social media accounts.
Linked HERE is a poster for the Conference (web and print versions) and a copy of our web banner. There’s also some suggested text at the bottom of this email. Any of these can be posted to a website, into an email or even printed out for use at local events.
Unfortunately all materials are currently in English only. If you are from a non-English speaking nation and are interested in translating the information yourself, then we can send you editable files for the purpose, though the conference itself will largely be held in English.
We have bursary options available to help those who may struggle to afford it to attend. We want to ensure the Conference remains as affordable as possible for as many as possible, within the limitations we have in terms of funding. Information can be found on the website.
Finally, in order to get a broad spectrum of Transitioners to the event, one suggestion was that members of local Transition Initiatives could band together to send one of their members to the Conference. As an organisation, we’re really keen to connect more with you and learn more about what’s going on in your local area and this is one way to ensure that happens.
We appreciate any help you can give with spreading the word about the Conference to your fellow Transitioners.
If you have any questions, please contact the Project Coordinator,
Dan Hurring (
Yours sincerely,
Transition Network

SEPTEMBER 18th – 20th
The Transition Conference is back! After a 2 year gap since our last event at Battersea Arts Centre, the 2015 gathering will bring together delegates from across the worldwide Transition Movement, bridging National Hubs with local Initiatives and celebrating the wonderful achievements and work that have been occurring since we began this journey back in 2006. We’re delighted to be returning to the home of our 2010 Conference, the beautiful Seale-Hayne in Devon.
We’re currently designing Fringe events, Trainings, Tours and other fun and fabulous things for what will be a really remarkable few days in Devon:

  • Main Transition International Conference: Friday 18th September (6pm) to Sunday 20th September (5pm)
  • Transition Skills Day: Friday 18th September
  • National Hubs Gathering: Friday 18th September to Tuesday 22nd September
  • Youth in Transition Gathering: Thursday 17th September to Friday 18th September
  • Transition Totnes Tour: Monday 21st September
This year’s conference will be a celebration of the truly international thing that Transition has become, following on as it does from the International Permaculture Convergence being held in Essex, UK and interweaving with the annual National Hubs Gathering as well. The Conference is going to be an inspiring melting pot of ideas, activities and creativity and we want you to be involved! There will be all the usual talks, workshops and participatory activities, from morning yoga to interactive discussions and even a live global webcast event sewn into the fabric.
Please visit our website for more details of the event including pricing and accommodation options:
Tickets are limited to just 350. Accommodation is available onsite at Seale-Hayne, first come, first served. This includes bedrooms, camping space and even a very basic shared ‘crash space’ for those happy to curl up with a camping mattress and sleeping bag.
